“Eric Minton is the kind of writer we all hope to find. His writing is smart, crisp, and insightful. He took on many in-depth profiles for me over the course of nine years (some with individuals who were more than a bit tight-lipped and staid), and each one was a story I wanted to read. He’s good-natured, professional, fun to work with.”

Eric Minton kneeling between two adult walruses, who are kissing his cheeksMy first professional byline landed atop an article on April 18, 1974, in the Bordentown Register-News reporting on my high school's baseball game. My name has since appeared on more than 1,100 articles in 103 publications.

As a newspaper staff writer my beats included sports, education, music and entertainment, and travel, culminating as a special projects reporter. As a freelance writer I've specialized in disability issues, disaster coverage, and in-depth profiles of industrial engineers. I've been a professional roller coaster rider, writing about amusement parks, waterparks, and zoos around the world, an expertise which landed me on several TV documentaries about thrill rides and theme parks. I've long covered the U.S. military, too, including in-depth articles on suicides and on traumatic brain injury.

My articles have won a Jesse H. Neal Award, a National Easter Seal Society EDI Award for Print Journalism, an American Society of Business Publication Editors' Silver Award for Individual Profile, and three Magazine Association of Georgia awards for feature writing.
